Obama, please prove me wrong..

My hope (and a lot of people's hopes) is that Barrack Obama will do something about the Palestinian's plight when he comes to office.

That hope is dimming.

Did you know that the Israeli war machine should be out of money in 3 months without CONSTANT US subsidy?
They'd be broke and bare-assed in 3 months without the US. Considering what a moron Bush is, we can probably swallow that part.

But what will Obama do about the Israeli's aggression? Will he even do ANYTHING?
Fact: He picked Hilary Clinton as his Secretary of State. And Rahm Emmanuel (dual Israeli-American citizen) and son of an Israeli terrorist as his CHIEF OF STAFF.

Doesn't look good.

Here's a quote I found on YouTube:

"I'm afraid we're going to find out that selling 'hope' is not UNlike selling 'soap'. The only difference is people who sell soap actually deliver SOMETHING."

So is Obama selling hope or soap?

Here are some Barrack Obama quotes to share with all of you:

"Today I want you to know, I will be speaking from my heart. As a true friend of Israel. And i know that when I visit AIPAC, i am among friends. Good friends. Friends who share my strong commitment to make sure that the bond between the United States and Israel is unbreakable today, unbreakable tomorrow, unbreakable FOREVER."

"Let me be clear, Israel's security is sacrosanct. It is non negotiable."

"Jerusalem will remain as the capital of Israel and it must remain undivided."

"Israel is not only our strongest ally in the region and one of our strongest allies in the world but there is a special connection between America and Israel."

"What I love about Israel is it is such a robust democracy and that they are committed to
principles like rule of law and civil rights and civil liberties."

"Israel has to remain a Jewish state and I believe that means any negotiated peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians is going to have to involve the Palestinians relinquishing the right of return as it has been understood in the past."

"If Israel was attacked, we will respond FORCEFULLY. And an attack on Israel, on of our most important allies in the world, would be considered as an attack on the United States."

"...any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel's identity as a Jewish state."

"Let me be absolutely clear, Israel is a strong friend of Israel." (he meant America)

"Those who know my track record, have absolutely no doubt about my unwavering support for Israel on it's security."

"It is critical that we send a message around the world, we will stand with Israel, we want them around not just for 60 years but for 600 years and when I am president of the United States they will have an unwavering ally in me."

This last one is a bit scary.

Yet, there are also some articles which mention that Obama is Pro-Palestinian. Honestly, I couldn't give a fart loud enough to express how I don't give a rat's ass about pro-this or pro-that. There are only 2 things I care about: What's Right and What's Wrong.

So is it all for the PR? And where does he really stand?

Will the real Barack Obama please stand up?

I urge all of you to watch this video of his speech at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC)... and tell me if it sends a chill up your spine:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cOJNC2EuJw

Admittedly this was recorded in June 2008, but the question now is:
Where does he stand now?
Has anything changed?
Or does he stand by what he says during his speech in the video?

*Shiver*

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your comment. I would like to suggest a little less racism and discriminatory remarks in the future.

If you have been following my blog, you would've noticed I used to write opinions on local Malaysian politics. I chose to right about home (Malaysia) and my opinions on its politics.

After a long silence due to being sick and tired of the lies and dramas that our politicians perform, I decided to write about general things. Such as the Senior Citizen's car for the LRT.

Then I thought, "Why just limit it to that?" I have something to say about international issues too.

Then I wrote about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. This is the first time I am writing about the going ons of another country.

And I get a comment from you discouraging me from doing so.

I must say your comment is rude and badly contructed. I can tolerate many things but rudeness is not one of them. Many conflicts in the world started because some joker decided to be rude.

Let me give you an alternative on how you can say your peace without being rude:

"I do agree with you on the dastardly behavior of the Israelis but it also think it is frustrating when conflicts such as the one in Darfur (where 1000 people die every month) is being overlooked. I think Malaysians shoudn't be selective when fighting for a cause. This behavior makes me sick."

See? You still get your opinion across, you get me to understand and agree with you and you don't sound like a racist.

Notice how very little effort is taken to get your message across? Just takes a bit of grey matter and exercise on the keyboard.

Laziness is so unattractive. So is arrogance.

I'm going out on a limb here, Anonymous, but you're really quite an idiot. You are welcome to correct me, but really, you are an idiot.

Is there a disclaimer I missed in this piece that says, "Pity only the poor Palestinians, and screw everyone else who is suffering"?

No, but it is blatantly obvious to your keen sense of the obvious, i.e., those antenna sprouting from your rear giving you heightened spidey sense, that the author of this piece is only sympathetic of a Muslim cause.

It is a pity that there so many people like you who are bigots without realizing that, yup, you got it, you are a bigot.

It is understandable...people fight for causes close to their heart, i.e., politics, religion, etc. And of course there is nothing wrong with it.

Unfortunately, sometimes people tend to compartmentalize causes, and start labeling them as belonging to one nationality, or one religion, and forget that the tragedy of it all is that there are real people involved in it, regardless of their creed or culture.

The author wrote this piece not as a Muslim, but as a woman who has a heart, and who tried to do something about the sufferings of other human beings she has seen.

Unlike your good self, there was no reference to religious affiliations, in either this piece or any piece previous to it.

The many tragedies of any conflict is not merely that it happens, but that people who aren't affected by it choose to ignore or to remain ignorant of it because it does not touch them, or because they justify it as someone else's problem.

Pardon me for the above discord/conflicting opinion (to put it more friendly) as I am of the opinion that the newly sworn-in President Obama may not be able to do much on the Middle-East peace-process but it's not impossible. Obama was the first who protested the war/invasion against Iraq which he rehashed during his Presidential campaign.

I have known this dashing blogger- KL Confidential for awhile in cyber-space and most of the time I agree with her take except for this one (Palestinian-Israeli conflict).

This unfortunate war that entails the Israeli sieged on was a result of Hamas' provocation as it rains countless of rockets onto Southern Israel.

I am at no time supporting Israeli aggression resulting the death of more than 1000 Palestinians but note that halve on them are Hamas fighters.

The Hezbollah on Southern Lebanon pledges moral support for their counterpart in Hamas but averred that they will not participate in the said war aiding Hamas.

That promise was reneged when Northern Israel was fired with rockets. Who could have been behind such acts if not Hezbollah who controls Southern Lebanon as of Hamas who defeated the Fatah regime headed by Mahmood Abbas who assume the leadership from the late Arafat.

There's always this saying - "I may not be agreeable with your view, but I will defend what you say"

Like Obama said of his deputy -Joe Biden during the Presidential campaign that he is looking forward for those who has the good-courage to tell the President (meaning Obama) when the President may be on the wrong course of action.

Although I may not agree with Kl Confidential on some of her opinions (like boycotting US goods), but I am sure she's humble enough to allow me of my opinion. :D

And I forgotten to say = please take care of your health. I read in your previous post that you did not eat and depressed for the Palestinian people. You surely have a cause - but to 20cent, since you personally knew Ms. Confidential, don't you mind to give her a back massage. She's sexy.....

Handsome,

You rascal! Hahahahaha... yes, thank you for your 20 cents worth.. it is always refreshing to hear another person's opinion/take on things.

I do agree with you on certain things though and I do strongly admit that I do not know as much as I should. So thank you for the education!

Obama and many Americans might have access to other sides of the story of the Middle East such as this one about Lebanon
http://multimedia.heritage.org/content/wm/Lehrman-092706a.wvx

The Malaysian media most likely will not have even given a cursory glance at this.

Do view it, though it is almost an hour long but it is one woman's personal story. Though it has some obvious references to the religious divide, I believe you are able to view this objectively.
