Something wrong here...

Saw this today. Can you tell that there's something wrong with the picture?
What do you make of it? Isn't this supposed to be a massive insult to the country?

Bangsar Police Station, time to take some pride in raising the Malaysian flag.
Terbalik la brother.

and guess who made a big deal of Wee's nice national anthem remix...who's insulting the country and nation now??

...*sigh*...what bloody morons. Normal citizens can't revamp the national anthem, but the police can fly our flag upside down?

Yes, there are reasons for flags to be flown upside down, but I doubt these idiots know where, when and why it can be done.

Flying flags upside down are done for 2 main reasons, one of which is to indicate distress.

Ironically, the second reason to fly a flag this way is to alert people of threats to freedom or personal liberties.

upside down flag is not an insult.
In fact it is a clear reflection of the state in Malaysia right now.Everything is upside down lah.
I wont make a fuss out of this, maybe the polis is trying to sent a message to all of us that the polis is no longer interested to prevent crime these days.

Thank you

i wonder if the police are making a statement because of nurul izzah's win. that was the first thought that comes to mind.

the station chief should be held responsible and be disciplined. it is unthinkable that this was not noticed, leading one to think that is indeed a statement of sorts, an expression of displeasure maybe.

i did a google and found out that country flags are flown upside down as a sign of distress.

now, is there a message there somewhere from the station chief?

When a national flag is flown upside down, it is a Distress Signal.

I don't see UMNO MPs making a big deal out of this. I wonder why.

I was in the Phillipines during the People Power Revolution of 1986. During that time the rebel soldiers who were anti Marcos and aligned to Fidel Ramos wore upside down Philippine flags on their uniforms to differentiate them from Marcos' soldiers since they were all issued with the same uniforms... Just a note from history... Not trying to imply anything else other than that.

In this particular case, I think it is probably just apathy, which is in a way unforgivable for the PDRM. In the military flag raising is treated ceremoniously and therefore there is no way such a mistake would be left as is. If the flag was accidentally tied wrongly, it should have been immediately rectified.

kl confidential,

its on purpose. they're merely confirming that malaysia is in distress.

It’s also distressing to read spinning gasing chun wai’s article in the star today. I refuse to dignify it with a link here. Not only does he downplay the bloggers’ role and efforts in the outcome of the elections, but he also demeans jeff ooi.

The only positive thing in the article is that he admitted the mainstream media has to relook at its editorial policy given the maturity of malaysian readers.

err..i hate to wake you up from dreamland to break this to you, but you kinda missed the bus there, my delusional datuk.

spinning gasing chun wai, spin it any way you want. Our jeff won. And you had better address him as yang berhormat, geddit?

When there's a clear signal for distress
There must be serious problems for redress
After so many long years of suppress
We wonder what else if there to compress
